Live From the Vic in Chicago

Genre: Rock; Music Label: RCA

With Stones-y swagger and Stooges sprawl, Kentucky’s Cage the Elephant easily capture the tumultuous dynamics of their two studio albums on their first live outing, Live From the Vic in Chicago. Ringmaster/singer Matt Shultz wails with controlled fury on radio-friendly shape-shifter ”Shake Me Down,” then releases his inner beast on an unhinged cover of Talking Heads’ ”Psycho Killer.” His raw onstage mania is so infectious that it comes across even without the accompanying DVD — the best measure of a transcendent frontman.
