Billy Crystal is returning to host the Academy Awards this year, for his ninth time, and ABC has uploaded a behind-the-scenes video featuring Crystal prepping for the event. Between poses for promo shots, Crystal called the Oscars “the granddaddy of all the [awards] shows” and noted that he’s now in the running for the Oscars-hosting record (though he’s got a long way to go, because title-holder Bob Hope took the stage 18 times). Click through to the full video to watch Crystal explain what Oscar means to him, hint at his and producer Brian Grazer’s plan of attack, and discuss the expectations for his always epic opening monologue.
