H&M may have set its David Beckham Bodywear Super Bowl ad to the Animals’ “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,” but there is no room for misunderstanding in the 30-second spot. Message received, loud and clear: David Beckham is smokin’ hot. Point for the Swedish clothing chain’s use of band name as subtext. Nina Simone may have recorded the original, but as the camera sweeps over Beckham’s taut and tatted frame, we feel like…well…Animals. See the tease (and I do mean tease) below.

What do you think, PopWatchers? Does the old “sex sells” truism still hold water? Will the dudes and bros sitting down for some pigskin and gridiron be inspired to replenish their skivvies supply when this ad airs during the second quarter? Or is H&M just tossing a bone (get your minds out of the gutter!) to the girlfriends who are really only watching for the ads anyway? Also, how many people do you think will subconsciously put down their double-chili nachos after seeing Beckham’s rippling physique in HD?
