ABC Family has given a thumbs up to a fifth season of The Secret Life of the American Teenager and will begin production on a new reality series called Beverly Hills Nannies.
Secret Life, which returns for its fourth season on March 26, ranked as the No. 3 most-watched scripted series on basic cable this summer among females 12-34, behind Pretty Little Liars and Switched at Birth. The series includes Golden Globe nominee Shailene Woodley, Ken Baumann, Molly Ringwald, and Luke Zimmerman.
The cable net will also begin production this spring on Beverly Hills Nannies, a docu-series that will follow lives of a group of nannies working for families in the 90210 area code. It’s from Evolution Media, the production company behind The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and The Real Housewives of Orange County. Also set to begin production soon: a new multi-camera comedy called Baby Daddy that stars Chelsea Kane, Tahj Mowry, and Derek Theler.
From executive producer Dan Berendsen (The Nine Lives of Chloe King), the half-hour series is about a young man who becomes a surprise dad to a baby girl when she’s left on his doorstep by an ex-girlfriend. He decides to raise the baby with the help of his mother.
