EW has confirmed that Ridley Scott will direct Cormac McCarthy’s script, The Counselor, as his follow-up to his in-the-works sci-fi epic, Prometheus. Scott is looking to start the project in May. Any project from the A-list director of Alien, Thelma and Louise, and Gladiator is big news – especially since Scott also recently revealed that he will be returning in the near future to his 1982 cult hit Blade Runner. Perhaps even splashier is word that Scott is in talks with one of his Prometheus stars, the red-hot Michael Fassbender, to play the lead in The Counselor, which Deadline reports tells the story of a lawyer who gets involved in the drug world. Previous McCarthy novels that have been adapted into feature films include All the Pretty Horses, No Country for Old Men, and The Road.
