Bobby Brown might not have stayed for the entirety of Whitney Houston’s funeral in Newark, N.J. Saturday — the singer released a statement claiming he decided to leave after security barred him from seeing his daughter with Houston, Bobbi Kristina — but Brown paid tribute to Houston in his own way during an appearance with New Edition Saturday night in Connecticut. “I want to give blessings to my ex-wife,” he told the crowd, pointing to the sky. “I love you.” Brown, who said he was going through a “difficult” year, then also blessed his “kids, my fiancé, my brothers, and all of you.”

Earlier this week, Brown announced he would leave the New Edition tour in order to spend time with Bobbi Kristina, but still made sure to remind fans he was still part of the group. Said Brown after toasting Houston, “I go by the name of badass Bobby Brown” See a clip from the concert after the jump.
