Unless you’re a hardcore fan of Welsh opera singers and/or Green Bay Packers wide receivers, then yesterday’s announcement of the cast of Dancing With the Stars for season 14 may have left you pondering exactly who contestants Katherine Jenkins and Donald Driver are. (For the record, she’s the Welsh opera singer and he’s the NFL star. Glad we cleared that up.)
Of course, that isn’t to imply Jenkins and Driver haven’t already been making big moves before they hit the DWTS floor. Jenkins (or Lady Josh Groban, if you will) is an international singing sensation, who is so good her rendition of the endlessly covered “Hallelujah” didn’t make the Internet run away. In fact, the clip from 2008 has over 1.5 million hits on YouTube. Watch it here:
In case you haven't reached your goose-bump quota for the day, here's Jenkins singing with fellow opera super star Andrea Bocelli.
Well that’s just damn enchanting, isn’t it, PopWatchers? Plus, Jenkins has already had a taste of what’s in store on DWTS, as the mezzo-soprano sang while Peta and Tristan demoed a troupe waltz. Check it out:
Then again, Jenkins' relative unknown status stateside could play to her benefit in the new season. Kelly Monaco was a virtual unknown to audiences of the first season of DWTS compared to the likes of Joey McIntyre and Evander Holyfield and then, of course, danced away the champ. Driver, on the other hand, is definitely more well known in the United States where football > futbol and has the odds in his favor considering six of the previous 13 DWTS champs are athletes. Check out Driver's impressive moves on the field:
What do you think, PopWatchers, will Donald Driver soon have a mirror-ball trophy to go with his Super Bowl ring? Or will we be wooed by Katherine Jenkins? Is it better to be a relative unknown in DWTS or is being an athlete the key? Were you fans of Jenkins and/or Driver before the season 14 announcement? Share in the comments section below.
