Easily the most intriguing casting choice director Gary Ross made for The Hunger Games was to ask rocker Lenny Kravitz to play Cinna, the lead stylist for District 12 tributes Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Fans of Suzanne Collins’ book know Cinna plays a pivotal role, not just in Katniss’ debut as a tribute while inside the fearsome Capitol, but also as her closest friend throughout the harrowing experience.
You can see that friendship start to form in this new clip from the March 23 film, in which the two meet for the first time. “I’m sorry that this happened to you,” Cinna tells Katniss, “and I’m here to help you in any way that I can.”
“Most people just congratulate me,” says Katniss.
“Well, I don’t see the point in that,” replies Cinna.
