• Total Internet #win: OK it’s not quite casting, but fans had been pushing for Community‘s Donald Glover to play Peter Parker in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man, and since Andrew Garfield is firmly in that role (opposite Emma Stone), director Marc Webb made sure Glover at least made a quick appearance. In an interview with MTV, Webb said he “included some references to Glover inside the set decoration of Peter Parker’s bedroom.” [MTV News]

• Another hipster musical a la Once is making its way to the big screen, and Elle Fanning is in talks to take the lead role. The film, God Help the Girl, is written and directed by Scottish band Belle and Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch. It’s also Internet win #2 for the day — the film raised over $100,000 on Kickstarter for production. [Rolling Stone]

• Coppola darling Alden Ehrenrich (Somewhere, Tetro) is taking over the lead role in Beautiful Creatures from Jack O’Connell who dropped out over scheduling conflicts. Ehrenrich and Alice Englert play teens who share a flair for the supernatural in the first adaptation of Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl’s novels. Will it be the next Twilight or The Hunger Games? Only time will tell. The film also stars Viola Davis and Jeremy Irons and is directed by Richard LaGravanese, who helmed P.S. I Love You. [Indie Wire]
