Conan O’Brien, who once replaced David Letterman as host of NBC’s Late Night and later went head-to-head with his idol during his short stint as host of the Tonight Show, will visit Letterman’s CBS program on Thursday night. It will be the first time the now-TBS late-night host has guested on Letterman’s program in 13 years. Both men, of course, famously lost very public battles with Jay Leno, who ultimately edged Letterman to succeed Johnny Carson as host of the Tonight Show in 1992 and then returned to the late-night showcase after O’Brien failed to generate high-enough ratings.
