Ratings: Viewers choose Gordon Ramsay over hockey

The Los Angeles Kings had it in the bag, so that’s probably why FOX triumphed on Monday in adults 18-49 instead of NBC, which aired Game 6 of the NHL Stanley Cup match. FOX ruled with originals of Hell’s Kitchen (2.7 rating/9 share) and Masterchef (2.6/7), which were actually up 13% versus last week’s premiere, according to preliminary results.

Each 18-49 ratings point equals 1.3 million viewers.

Game 6 between the Kings and the Devils averaged 1.6/7, a 20 percent drop from last year’s Game 6 on June 13. It also was the lowest-rated Game 6 as well as the lowest-rated game-ender for the Stanley Cup since 2006. Like I said, we all knew the Kings had it, right? (Given the nature of live sports, ratings are approximate).

ABC came in second for the night in 18-49, thanks to an original of The Bachelorette (2.3/7, up 5% from last week) and a repeat of Castle. CBS aired reruns of its comedies and Hawaii 5-0.

In viewers, ABC was on top Monday with 6.5 million, followed by FOX (6.0 million), CBS (5.6 million) and NBC (4.1 million). The Bachelorette was the most-watched program of the night (God help us all). CW averaged a mere 583,000.
