MTV renews 'Awkward' for supersized third season

MTV is signing on for more Awkward.

The network is renewing the scripted comedy for a supersized third season. Awkward will return with 20 episodes – nearly double the order for its first and second season.

The show’s second season has averaged 1.8 million viewers a week, up 6 percent from its first season. Plus star Ashley Rickards recently received a nomination for a Critics Choice Television Award for best comedy series actress.
