Kristin Chenoweth has opted to bow out of filming more episodes of The Good Wife as she continues to heal from injuries sustained on set, EW has confirmed.

The actress, who joined the CBS drama on a recurring basis in June, says in a statement: “It is with deep regret to inform everyone that due to my injuries, I am unable to return to The Good Wife at this time.  Getting better slowly and thank you everyone for your concern.”

Chenoweth, 44, was injured on set in July after a piece of lighting equipment fell and struck her. She was treated at the hospital and later released, but has as recently as last week addressed her continued struggle with recovery.

She is set to appear in the season opener for the series (airing Sept. 30) as a reporter who covers Peter’s campaign.

People was the first to report the news of her departure.
