• Slender, suave Adrien Brody is in negotiations to play a villain in the crime thriller Motor City. The film, starring Gerard Butler, is about a felon, after he leaves jail, who goes after the guys who framed him. Albert Hughes is directing from a script by Chad St. John. Brody would reportedly replace another traditionally intense actor, Gary Oldman, in the role. [Variety]

• Former Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa and Canadian actress Merritt Patterson are joining the werewolf thriller Wolves. First time feature director David Hayter is helming the film from his own script. It stars Lucas Till (X-Men: First Class) as an 18-year-old who leaves town after being accused of killing his own parents. Momoa plays a werewolf villain. [Variety]

• Chloe Moretz is in talks to star as a character named Val in the coming of age indie The Wilderness Of James. Michael Johnson will make his directorial debut from his own script, about a boy in Portland, Oregon, played by Kodi Smitt-McPhee (Let Me In), dealing with the absence of his dad. [Deadline]

• BBC Sherlock Holmes star Benedict Cumberbatch is in negotiations to join the cast of the ensemble drama August: Osage County, an adaptation of a play by Tracy Letts about the fractured Weston family brought back to their childhood home by a crisis. John Wells is directing the movie, starring Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and Chris Cooper, from a script by Letts. [THR]
