It’s been a trying four months, trudging through week after week after week with no new episodes of Parks and Recreation. Dare we say, though, you handled it like a (three-legged) Champion, and now your patience will literally be rewarded as season 5 kicks off this Thursday.
So, what can you expect in the coming year from the parks people of Pawnee? Perhaps you’ve heard rumbles of a girlfriend for Ron (Nick Offerman) who’s not named Tammy. Or a trip for Leslie (Amy Poehler) to Washington, D.C., where she will meet some high-powered political players. Or that Jonathan “Mike from Breaking Bad” Banks will be playing Ben’s dad.
That’s all true. But that’s not all. Comedic adventures shall run far and wide, judging from this montage that the producers assembled from the first few episodes of the season. Prepare to see: Leslie’s new City Council office (complete with a surprise), Andy’s (Chris Pratt) attempt at identifying D.C. landmarks, the Parks Department employee-appreciation BBQ, talk of old people with sexually transmitted diseases, “sparkle skin,” an assault on the eardrum of Ben (Adam Scott), and more. The sooner you press play, the sooner you’ll find out why the perm must wait.
The Parks and Recreation season premiere airs Thursday at 9:30 p.m. on NBC.
