Darth Vader may wear all black, the Emperor may be able to shoot lightening out of his fingers, and Darth Maul may have a bitchin’ double lightsaber, but the biggest badass in the Star Wars universe will always be the notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett. It’s hard to explain just what it is that makes Boba Fett so freakin’ cool, so we asked the three men who played the majority of scenes as the man of few words but many kills to do it for us. That’s right, as part of EW’s new Reunions issue, we brought Jeremy Bulloch (who played Fett in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi), Dickey Beer (who did the big Fett stunts in the Return of the Jedi Sarlacc battle scene) and Daniel Logan (who played young Boba in Attack of the Clones and currently voices the character on The Clone Wars) together. In this bonus outtake not found in the issue, we asked each of the actors their thoughts on what makes Boba Fett such a fan favorite.
What is it about Boba Fett that people love so much?
“He’s a villain, but he’s not a villain. He’s cool. He’s can answer Darth Vader back and he gets respect for that. It’s just the way he kind of hanging around in the background and holding the gun in a certain way. They just go ‘Aw, cool, Boba Fett!’” — Jeremy Bulloch
“You know how there’s always that hot girl in your class. She’s smart, sophisticated, always dresses nice, but she’s always quiet. And that’s what attracts you to her the most. I think that’s what attracts most people to Boba Fett, the fact that they only got such a little bit of him, yet there was so much more to that character. We all idolize that one quiet guy in the class, and you always kind of worry about ‘Hey, you don’t want to mess with that quiet guy because that guy will probably beat you.’ George Lucas didn’t give the audience enough so now they are feening to see more and more.” — Daniel Logan
“I have no idea. All I know is, the kids love him, When the kids come to me with their pictures and they want me to sign, I look at them and go ‘Why do you like this character?’ And they don’t even have the answer. They just say, ‘Because he’s cool.’ Even the kids today don’t have a real answer for it. I say, ‘Give me a reason why you like him so much,’ and they can’t. They just say ‘He’s cool.’ And that’s it.” —Dickey Beer
