Nighttime soaps don’t get much sudsier than the original Melrose Place, which left airwaves in 1999 after seven backstabbing, catfighting, betrayal-filled seasons. Of course, the show’s cast only has fond memories of all that onscreen drama. Heather Locklear is tickled that some people still confuse her with the villainous Amanda Woodward – “They call me Heather Lockwood,” she says. Courtney Thorne-Smith remembers how fun it was to play fake-blind after her character, Alison Parker, lost and regained her eyesight. Grant Show, who starred as bad boy Jake Hanson, hearkens back to long make-out sessions with Daphne Zuniga’s Jo. “There was no plot,” Zuniga recalls. “There was just kissing.”
So, what are the actors’ favorite Melrose moments? ABC News correspondent Amy Robach – who happens to be married to Melrose star Andrew Shue – sat down with the stars during their recent EW reunion to find out. Check out the video for chatter from the cast, clips from the show, and the truth about the original Billy Campbell.
Other reunions in the annual double issue, on stands this week (or available to buy online), include Clueless, Arrested Development, Breaking Away, and National Lampoon’s Vacation.
Entertainment Weekly and some of the stars featured in the Reunions Issue have teamed up with charitybuzz.com – the global leader in online celebrity auctions – to raise money for a variety of great causes. Fans can bid on memorabilia, meet-and-greets, and more; all proceeds go to charity. Visit ew.com/reunions and charitybuzz/ewreunion for more information.
