CBS is getting into the baking business. The broadcast network announced today that it has ordered the series Bake Off, based on the U.K. competition show The Great British Bake Off, which aired its season 3 finale on BBC2 on Tuesday. The episode scored the series’ highest rating when 6.5 million turned out to watch.
Expected to begin airing sometime in 2013, Bake Off (which is a working title) will feature skilled amateur Americans competing in baking challenges for the winning title.
The series will be executive produced by Richard McKerrow, who also exec. produced The Great British Bake Off. His other British reality TV shows include Britain’s Missing Top Model and The Baby Borrowers, which was adapted into an American show that had a short run on NBC.
