Hurricane Sandy may have prevented Jimmy Kimmel Live! from staging its first show from the Brooklyn Academy of Music last night, but tonight Kimmel will bring some comic relief to his birthplace and beyond. His week of shows in the storied NYC borough kicks off at midnight with guest Howard Stern. (Jimmy’s late-night idol, David Letterman, graces the show on Wednesday.)
Over the next few days, look for Kimmel to tour his old neighborhood of Mill Basin with Guillermo on Big Wheels and solicit opinions on the upcoming election at a local barbershop. In addition, two Brooklyn youths will be interrogated by Kimmel as the Lie Detective, assisted by the Truth Fairy. The Truth Fairy may or may not be Guillermo dressed in a pink tutu. You can sneak a peek at the action by clicking on the video below. That’s no lie.
Check out the show’s special opening credits, which include a nod to the Brooklyn-set The Honeymooners, plus cameos by Kimmel’s Uncle Tony and Cousin George (in the manhole cover scene).
Back in L.A., good things await Kimmel, who recently hosted the Emmys and was the featured performer at the White House Correspondents Dinner. He gets a time slot promotion on Jan. 8, when JKL moves up to 11:35 p.m on ABC.
