Elijah Wood’s got a future on FX: The cable net just announced that it has ordered 13 more episodes of Wilfred, the live-action comedy about a young man who forms a friendship with Wilfred (Jason Gann), his neighbor’s dog.

Wilfred is based on the Australian series of the same title and was originally adapted for FX by David Zuckerman (Family Guy, American Dad, King of the Hill). Season 2 of Wilfred averaged 2.63 million viewers and 1.71 million adults 18-49 per week.

Production of season three begins next spring and is slated to box in June of 2013.
