The mother of Ariel Winter, the 14-year-old star of Modern Family who filed a restraining order and accused her mother of physical and emotional abuse, denied the charges, telling People, “It’s all untrue, it’s all untrue.”
Chrisoula Workman was stripped of parental custody soon after Winter filed court papers on Oct. 3 detailing extensive abuse. But she told People, “I have my doctor’s letter that my daughter’s never been abused. … I have stylists’ letters that she’s never been abused.”
Workman also denied the accusations to NBC News, claiming in a statement they are a response to her disapproval of her daughter’s romantic relationship with an 18-year-old boyfriend.
Winter is currently staying with her older sister, who was granted temporary guardianship. Workman has been ordered not to contact Winter, and a follow-up hearing is scheduled for Nov. 20.
