Two Friday night ABC comedies are getting some extra episodes.
Freshman series Malibu Country and sophomore sitcom Last Man Standing just received pickups for five extra episodes each.
The duo represent ABC’s effort to establish a comedy block on TV’s toughest night. Though neither are doing gangbusters in the key adults 18-49 demographic, in the few weeks since they debuted both have had some success. Tim Allen’s Standing is top-rated show at 8 p.m. in the demo, while Reba McEntire’s Malibu is statistically ranked as the most-watched freshman comedy this season (8.7 million viewers). They have also helped support reality series Shark Tank at 9 p.m.
