One week after Rihanna presented her first fashion show for River Island the pop princess has moved onto her next stylish venture: a makeup collection for MAC.
The collaboration — which the Rihanna called “a no-brainer” — will include multiple collections of color cosmetics due in stores this year, according to WWD. The first item to hit shelves: RiRi Woo, a lipstick inspired by the Grammy singer’s favorite MAC red, Ruby Woo, that will release in time with Rihanna’s Diamonds Tour concerts on May 4 and 5 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. MAC will open a pop-up shop on the first night to showcase the line.
“When you think of makeup, the brand that pops into your mind — for something legit — is MAC,” the singer told WWD. “Whatever color you want, it’s like ‘Let’s go to MAC.’ I’ve been using MAC on tour for such a long time it was a natural fit for me. I have always loved makeup, and I always said that if I do it, I want to do it with a credible brand.”
While MAC has worked with several entertainers in the past in partnerships including their annual Viva Glam campaign, this is the first time that the brand has done a celebrity collaboration on more than just a one-off product. The deal also marks Rihanna’s first makeup line.
