The return of Dana Scully?

Not quite — but ex-X-Files star Gillian Anderson is making a move to return to network TV, via an untitled Rand Ravich/Far Shariat thriller for NBC. EW has confirmed that Anderson is set to star in the pilot, which centers on a massive kidnapping. The Emmy winner plays a CEO whose daughter is among the victims.

Anderson has certainly  had a busy pilot season. In December, EW revealed that she had booked a multi-episode arc on Hannibal, Bryan Fuller’s upcoming serial killer thriller — which will also air on NBC. But while Anderson is only guesting on the Silence of the Lambs prequel, she’ll be a series regular in Ravich and Shariat’s thriller — which, if it’s picked up, would mark her first starring role on network TV since The X-Files departed Fox in 2002.
