Were you in front of the TV last night wondering why nearly every network decided to take the night off?
February sweeps had just ended. So after four weeks of firing at rivals with original episodes, broadcasters collectively loosened their belts, took a breather and ran some repeats.
Fox’s American Idol was still in session and easily won the night, but matched Wednesday’s historic ratings low.
NBC had original episodes of Community and 1600 Penn. ABC aired another Zero Hour. All did lousy (see chart).
The night’s most interesting factoid: The second-highest rated show was CBS’ Big Bang Theory repeat with an adult demo rating that was nearly triple that of Community‘s original episode. The struggling NBC comedy — which many often assume does poorly because of Big Bang Theory — matched last week’s all-time ratings low despite its tough rival airing a repeat.
Maybe NBC can convince Morrissey to protest Community?
