'Breaking Dawn Part 2' snubbed by the MTV Movie Awards

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 only received one – I repeat one – nomination for the 2013 MTV Movie Awards. (Taylor Lautner will carry the torch as a nominee for Best Shirtless Performance.)

The other four films in the saga had a total of 16 wins, and 23 nominations combined – including a win every year for Best Kiss and Best Movie. What gives?

Look, it’s a very crowded field – and it’s hard to argue that any of the Best Movie nominees deserve to be unseated by the final Breaking Dawn. But I will say I’m very surprised that it didn’t at least earn two more nominations – for Best Kiss and Best Fight.

Bella’s first undead lip-lock with Edward? Super hot. And their sex-scene? Even hotter. And how did the fake-out fight scene at the end NOT get recognized. It had everything! Vampire heads were torn off! Matrix-esque martial arts moves were used. Come on, MTV Movie Awards!

At least we can hope that Lautner turns out to be the Ben Affleck of the ceremony.
