Assemble, Marvel fans — Disney XD has just announced the premiere dates for two new comic-inspired series.
Both Avengers Assemble and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. will debut this summer, the first on Sunday, July 7 and the second on Sunday, Aug. 11. Additionally, Disney XD will give viewers a special one-hour sneak peek at Avengers on Sunday, May 26. All of these showings will occur at 11 a.m. ET.
Each series features a cast of beloved heroes and villains from Marvel’s comics, as well as a few new characters just to keep things interesting. Avengers Assemble marks the first time in animation history that the supers who fought in Marvel’s big-screen, live-action Avengers — Iron Man, the Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, and Black Widow — have joined forces, according to Disney. Expect to see bad guys like Dr. Doom, Attuma, and Dracula appear throughout the series as well.
Hulk, meanwhile, will follow the largest (and greenest) Avenger as he teams up with his own band of heroes — his cousin She-Hulk, A-Bomb, Red Hulk, and Skaar. The group lives together under one enormous roof, Real World-style, and care for their pet T-Rex when they’re not helping to save the world.
These series, which also feature voice acting by a few familiar names (including Heroes‘s Adrian Pasdar as Iron Man and Buffy‘s Eliza Dushku as She-Hulk), will join Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man to form one of the most superpowered programming blocks on cable. No word yet on whether we can expect to see shawarma pop up in either show.
