The newest trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness prominently features the return of Bruce Greenwood as Admiral Pike, the original original Enterprise captain who’s been transformed via Abrams into the Viper to Captain Kirk’s Maverick. “Do you have any idea what a pain you are?” Pike tells Kirk, who’s apparently been insubordinate about something. Cue various shots of volcanoes and explosions and a bigscreen remake of the Dead Space 2 zero-gravity space flight. And at the end Admiral Pike says to Kirk: “You’ll pick up your RIO when you get to the ship. And if you don’t, give me a call. I’ll fly with you.” Cue Steve Stevens’s electric guitar. Paramount also sent out a press release noting that, due to high ticket sales, they’re adding some Into Darkness screenings on May 15 at 11:00 p.m. at participating IMAX theaters. Which means it’s two months until you finally find out the big twist: Benedict Cumberbatch’s character is actually a sled.
