Playwright Neil LaBute is notorious for dredging the dark depths of the male psyche, and Some Girl(s) goes so far as to name its protagonist, if that’s the right word, merely as “Man.” In the movie, which premiered at SXSW in March, Adam Brody (The O.C.) plays the Man, a successful writer who thinks the best way to prep for his imminent wedding is a cross-country jaunt to reconnect with a quintet of his former lovers — Jennifer Morrison, Mía Maestro, Emily Watson, Zoe Kazan and Kristen Bell — to resolve old wounds. Or not.

This isn’t High Fidelity, where a trip down the lane of lovers’ past is a humorous gateway path to self-discovery. Brody has compared the movie to Kill Bill… which says everything you need to know about Man’s intentions.

Some Girl(s) opens in 10 cities (including N.Y. and L.A.) on June 28, the same day it becomes available on Vimeo on Demand.
