This past Saturday, New York’s hottest club was clearly Some Church in Midtown — where frequent Weekend Update guest Stefon was set to wed Anderson Cooper (or wait, was that Tranderson Cooper?) before the ceremony was crashed by a love-struck Seth Meyers.
As you watched Seth and Stefon fight their way out of the church, you may have noticed a few quasi-familiar faces. That’s because every guest on Stefon’s side of the aisle — as well as the minister — was a person or creature mentioned during one of the club kid’s 15 previous Weekend Update visits. Here’s a detailed breakdown of who was there, cameo by cameo:
Stefon and Cooper’s officiant: Black George Washington, a frequent presence at Slash.
A puppet in disguise: “It’s that thing of when Alf wore a trench coat, so he could go out into public.”
Stefon’s groomsmen were human parking cones — “that thing of when two jacked midgets paint themselves orange, and you have to parallel park between them” — and a human fire extinguisher — “that thing of when a thin midget paints himself red and then chews Alka-Seltzer until foam shoots out his mouth.”
Hobocops, a.k.a. homeless Robocops.
Jupids, a.k.a. Jewish cupids. “They just want you to meet someone nice and settle down!”
Infamous gay running back Blowjay Simpson, manager of [looks around, furrows brow] …Kevin?
Gizblow, the coked-up gremlin.
Furkels, a.k.a. Fat Urkels. “After you’ve been with one of those guys, you’ll ask yourself ‘Did I do thaaaat?'”
Evil celebrity chef Wario Batali: “He’s just like his brother, except he doesn’t wear Crocs.”
Germfs, a.k.a. German Smurfs.
Jewish Dracula. His real name: Sidney Applebaum.
A geisha, frequent visitor to SPICY.
Hanukkah cartoon character Menorah the Explorer. Behind her is one of the 10 bouncers at Taste — they’re all jacked homeless guys in old-fashioned bathing suits. You can get a better look at them in the group shot. Also visible there: Grown men in wedding dresses.
DJ Baby Bok Choy, “a giant 300-pound Chinese baby who wears tinted aviator glasses, and he spins records with his little ravioli hands.”
Stefon’s brother David, played here (as in Stefon’s first-ever appearance) by Ben Affleck. Behind him is a guy with an afro in a graduation cap, a frequent guest at Twice — you can get a better look at him and his buddies in the group shot.
And just in case you want to see everyone in action, here’s the whole sketch:
