ABC’s The Bachelorette returned to its lowest premiere ratings ever Monday night, but should Desiree really get the blame?

This is the first time Bachelorette has faced NBC’s The Voice. Plus, recent seasons have debuted with a Dancing With the Stars lead-in, and it was the Memorial Day weekend. So Bachelorette fell 27 percent this year, yet faced a serious uphill battle (find EW’s recap here).

Over on NBC, The Voice has been on a downward trajectory going into its home stretch, falling the last six Mondays in a row among adults 18-49: 5.2, 4.9, 4.3, 4.1, 3.8, 3.5 and now a 3.1. Still, the Top 8 performance show was easily strong enough to win the night. Revolution was steady.

On Fox, summer burn-off comedy The Goodwin Games was flat with last week’s debut, basically matching repeats of Raising Hope and New Girl. Full chart:
