For our Must Issue, on newsstands now, we spoke with Hugh Jackman on the set of the latest entry into the X-Men franchise, The Wolverine. The movie takes place in Japan and tells the story of Wolverine receiving a tantalizing proposition from Yashida, a wealthy tycoon on his deathbed: he knows a way to make Wolverine/Logan mortal.

In this clip of our interview, a glistening Jackman discusses his character’s “internal battle,” calls Wolverine “one of the first real antiheroes,” and promises that you’ll see Logan at his most vulnerable.

In the magazine, Jackman also discusses the rough response to the first Wolverine movie. “I had something to prove, and we could have done better,” he says. He  added later, “Fingers crossed we’ve done it this time. I’m pretty confident we have.”  The Wolverine opens July 26.

Pick up this week’s Entertainment Weekly  to read about the rain machines, Hugh getting tousled around by many many ninjas, and more about the film’s comic book origins.
