Back in the late ’90s, something happened that was so magical it would never be heard of again: Prince, that avid hater of the Internet, took a stab at Web 1.0 and posted onto his site a RealPlayer stream of himself and Marva King covering Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One.” (Of course, since he’s Prince, he called it “Ur Still the 1,” but it’s the same song.) Some 16 years then passed, and people went on with their daily lives and bought iPods and Zunes, and the song was forgotten.
Until now. Dan Chamberlain dug up the relic while ripping old “Napster-era” mix CDs onto his laptop, and now the great cover demo is back in our lives, America. Give it a listen below:
