Darren Criss stopped by Conan last night, where the actor shared his memories about his late co-star and “dear friend” Cory Monteith. His remarks join Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele and other Glee cast members who have weighed in since the actor’s untimely death July 13.
Calling him a “wonderful guy,” Conan O’Brien asked Criss how the cast was holding up. “Obviously it’s been a very rough time,” Criss shared. But the actor tried to look forward, explaining, “We’re picking up the pieces now and there’s two things you got to remember about Cory: One, he was a really funny guy. He had a great sense of humor; he loved life. He always took care of his friends, he wanted his friends to be happy, so it’s only right that we try and start to smile again, try and laugh again. It’s something he would have wanted.”
He continued, “On a personal note, he will be severely missed but I’m just happy that a guy like him got to touch as many lives as he did while we were all lucky enough to have him.”

Criss is about to begin production on the fifth season of Glee, which will deal with Finn’s death. This past week, producers announced that the show was unlikely to go beyond the already-ordered season 6.
