Let’s be honest: Katherine Heigl was really, really good as Izzie. So it makes sense that more than just one or two networks appear to be interested in a new TV project that would star the former Grey’s Anatomy star.

Heigl is the main attraction of a pitch from Alexi Hawley (The Following) that would feature her in a procedural about the CIA and how it addresses crises worldwide. Heigl would play the female lead, which is a liaison to the president.

USA Today says that Heigl has been working on the project with feature producer Robert Simonds (This Means War) and a team of senior CIA suits, and that it’s already generating interest at both the broadcast and cable nets. The project is only in the script stage and, if eventually ordered to series, would probably not see the light of day until fall 2014.

Guess that means that a Grey’s comeback is not in the cards. Last year, Heigl mentioned that she would love a return trip to the drama that made her a household name but ABC and Creator Shonda Rhimes never obliged.
