FX just lassoed another player for its Billy Crystal comedy that’s in the works. Josh Gad – who stars opposite Ashton Kutcher in Jobs – has joined the single-camera comedy pilot The Comedians.

Gad will play a young, hip comic on the rise who resents – and rails against – his pairing with an aging superstar comedian (Crystal) for a late-night comedy sketch show.

Last seen in the short-lived comedy 1600 Penn, Gad will play Steve Wozniak in the Jobs movie that’s out Aug. 16. He is also set to star in the upcoming features Wish I Was Here, Best Man, Inc., and Thanks for Sharing.

The Comedians is from Fox TV Studios, with Crystal, Larry Charles (Seinfeld), Matt Nix (Burn Notice), and Ben Wexler (Community, Arrested Development) as writers and executive producers. Charles will direct the pilot.
