With only twelve weeks to go before release, Lionsgate announced Friday that tickets for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will go on sale starting October 1st, at 12p.m. ET / 9a.m. PT with advance movie tickets available through Fandango and MovieTickets.com.
The first installment broke records for advance ticket sales, outpacing the Twilight series.
In part two of the series, Jennifer Lawrence returns as Katniss Everdeen, safe at home after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). But winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts.
Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Stanley Tucci, and Donald Sutherland also star in the film, directed by Francis Lawrence. Lawrence (Water for Elephants) is a newcomer to the franchise, taking over from the first installment’s director, Gary Ross.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens in theaters nationwide November 22, 2013.
