'Survivor' winner-turned-'Millers' writer John Cochran takes us inside his L.A. life -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Winning Survivor comes with many perks – including the opportunity to become … a comedy writer?

It’s true! Survivor’s John Cochran – also an EW contributor – is now working on CBS’ new comedy The Millers. To prepare for the show’s premiere, CBS is releasing four installments of behind-the-scenes footage to document Cochran’s journey from the island to the writers’ room.

EW has an exclusive look at the first installment, which shows Cochran talking about his sudden move to L.A. (with his mother, of course) and how life continues now that he considers himself a “Probstégé,” a noun defined as “an individual who is guided and supported by a successful TV host and personality,” such as the one-and-only Jeff Probst.

See how Cochran is liking his new life in the video below:

The Millers premieres Thursday, Oct. 3, at 8:30 p.m. on CBS.
