Say it ain’t so, Marty McFly!

While promoting The Michael J. Fox Show on Howard Stern’s radio show, Fox revealed that after his Parkinson’s diagnosis at age 29, his “first reaction to it was to start drinking heavily. I used to drink to party, but…now I was drinking alone and to just not be. Every day.”

The 52-year-old shared that immediately after his diagnosis, he wasn’t in therapy, so he was self-medicating with alcohol. “There was about a year of, like, a knife fight in a closet, where I just didn’t have my tools to deal with it,” he explained. “Then after that, I went into therapy and it all started to get really clear to me.”

Happily, Fox said that after a rough first year, his life, his career and his marriage got a lot better.
