Fox’s cooking competition spin-off MasterChef Junior premiered Friday night to semi-decent ratings that were just grown-up enough to win 8 p.m..

The network’s latest Gordon Ramsay series had 4.2 million viewers and a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating. That just barely edged out the return of CBS’ Undercover Boss and ABC’s Sitcom Hour of the Damned to top the hour.

At 9 p.m., CBS brought back Hawaii Five-0 (9.4 million, 1.5) in its new rough-neighborhood time slot. The crime procedural was down 18 percent from last fall’s Monday premiere and got its lunch stolen by ABC’s Shark Tank. ABC’s sharks, by and by, grew a tenth of a point from last week’s premiere despite its no-help Neighbors lead-in shrinking a bit. At 10 p.m., CBS’ Blue Bloods returned higher. Chart, chart, chart:
