The renewal is hardly a shock, as The Simpsons continues to perform well in the ratings. The season 25 premiere was the top-rated broadcast network entertainment program on Sept. 29 among 18-to-49-year-olds and grew 12 percent from the season 24 debut.
The show’s annual Halloween episode, “Treehouse of Horror XXIV,” which airs Sunday, features an opening sequence created by horror/fantasy director Guillermo del Toro.
The network announced yesterday that it was ordering a second season of Sleepy Hollow.
