Peter Dinklage is ready to get R-rated.
The Game of Thrones star has signed on to play the lead in an untitled comedy for Paramount, EW confirmed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story is about a man who goes around telling people that he’s a leprechaun. Reports state that the goal is to craft a movie that’s similar in tone to 2003’s Bad Santa, which would place it squarely in R-rated territory.
Andrew Dodge, who penned the Jason Bateman-directed comedy Bad Words, has been hired to write the script. There is still no director attached or a reported timeline for the project.
In addition to his role as the rakish Tyrion Lannister on HBO’s Game of Thrones, Dinklage will also appear in X-Men: Days of Future Past as the mustachioed scientist Bolivar Trask. The Golden Globe-winner is often called on to use his comedic chops in supporting roles for movies like Elf and, more recently, A Case of You, so we’re particularly excited to see what Dinklage can do with this lead role.
