Last night marked the first round of live shows for the top 20 contestants competing on season 5 of NBC’s The Voice. Entertainment Weekly was on the scene as members of Team Adam and Team Blake gave it their all in the hopes that viewers at home would vote them into the Top 12.
Check out a couple of things you didn’t see at home when the cameras stopped rolling below!
For all you fans who have fallen in love with the bromance between Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, you’ll be happy to know that the coaches’ chemistry doesn’t seem to turn off once the cameras stop rolling. The two can often be seen laughing and talking with each other on stage during commercial breaks, when they aren’t otherwise preoccupied with having their makeup or hair touched up by the crew.
But the true Blake/Adam highlight of the night came when they entered the studio before taping even began. Shelton and Levine stepped on stage arm in arm, much to the joy of fans in attendance, who cheered in delight at the sight of the two coaches. The screams only grew louder as Shelton stepped down toward the infamous judges’ chairs first before offering Levine a hand and helping him down the steps and over to his seat.
Christina Aguilera and rapper Flo Rida kicked off the night with a performance of “How I Feel,” however, the duet was pre-recorded to save time, so audience members enjoyed it from the big screen while members of the crew worked quickly to set up the stage for the first contestant performance of the night.
Coach Blake seemed particularly proud of contestant Nic Hawk’s rendition of Robin Thicke and Pharrell’s summer hit “Blurred Lines.” The coach ran up on stage as soon as cameras stopped rolling for a commercial break and gave his team member a big hug, congratulating him on a job well done.
