Get ready for a whirlwind, Person of Interest fans! Tuesday night’s episode “The Crossing” may very well leave you gasping for breath – or at least that’s what the show’s creator Jonathan Nolan and EP Greg Plageman are hoping.

After last week’s Machine-spewing madness (38 numbers!!), things take a big turn this week: For the first time, Reese’s number comes up. “It’s a big deal for our show, it’s never happened before,” Nolan says of Tuesday’s episode, the second in a three-episode arc that began with last week’s “Endgame.” “The man in the suit is finally front and center, so the question becomes, how’s he going to get out of this one?”

Nolan continues: “It will test all of the aspects of the evolution of these characters that we’ve seen over the last three seasons: what they mean to each other, what they’d be willing to do for each other. It all kind of comes to a climax in this episode.”

But what about poor Detective Fusco (Kevin Chapman), who’s been teetering on the edge of grave danger? (Let’s face it: He’s looked like he’s heading into grave danger since season 1.)

All Nolan will say is that it’s been a “great experience” working with Chapman. “We think these episodes will leave the audience speechless. They fulfill the mandate that we’ve had for our audience from the beginning – to keep it dangerous and exciting.”

“All of our characters have these terrible things that have happened in their past, and the reality is, as storytellers and audience members, we love to see these characters challenged,” says Plageman. “We just invite the audience to keep turning the page with us.”

Person of Interest airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
