Lea Michele is already a staple on the Billboard charts, thanks to the many chart-crashing versions of pop songs she sings on Glee

(the show’s cast actually holds the record for most appearances in the history of the Hot 100).

But her new song “Cannonball” may give her the chance to earn her own original spot in the pop universe. It’s from her upcoming album Louder, which is scheduled for release on March 4, 2014.

You’ll be able to hear “Cannonball” live when Michele performs the song on Ellen this Thursday, December 12, but for now you can listen to the studio version below:

Michele has been gradually unveiling details about Louder via her Twitter—she has already revealed the cover art and tracklist, with more to come. Next year promises to be especially busy for Michele between her commitments on Glee, her new album in March, and her forthcoming book Brunette Ambition, which is due out in May.

What do you think of “Cannonball”?
