Fox hasn’t yet announced if The X Factor will return, but already reports are surfacing that of a shakeup on the show’s infamously unstable judging panel.

People magazine is reporting that sources close to judge Demi Lovato say the singer is leaving the show. The reason? After years of singers exiting music competition shows amid carefully crafted statements do you need to ask? All together now: The singer wants to spend more time “completely focused on her music.”

The 21-year-old Lovato has served two seasons on the show, which is actually a long time given Factor‘s turbulent history across three seasons. Only executive producer Simon Cowell has remained on board since the beginning, and even he’s hinting of a “different role” should Fox renew the show. No word yet on freshman judges Kelly Rowland or Paulina Rubio.

Fox and Lovato’s reps had no comment on the report, but there’s a chance the singer could comment on the story when she shows up for the live taping of X Factor tonight.
