Warner Bros. has just released a teaser trailer for Johnny Depp’s upcoming sic-fi film, Transcendence, in which Depp plays a researcher who is uploaded into a computer.
The upcoming film tells the story of two leading computer scientists who are working toward their goal of Technological Singularity, defined as a point at which artificial intelligence will surpass human intelligence. Meanwhile, a radical anti-technology organization is fighting to prevent them from creating a world where computers can transcend the abilities of the human brain.

The film is a directorial debut for cinematographer Wally Pfister, who’s best known for his work with Christopher Nolan; Pfister is specifically known for his Oscar-winning work on Nolan’s Inception. Check out Entertainment Weekly’s official First Look stills of the film here.
Transcendence also stars Morgan Freeman, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy, and Paul Bettany and will hit theaters April 18.
