Across the pond, Sherlock is once again driving large numbers.

The second episode of season three, “The Sign of Three,” delivered 8.8 million viewers Sunday night on BBC One, almost as much as the previous week’s record-setting and highly anticipated premiere. To give you an idea of how large this is in UK terms, Sherlock had a 32 percent share of the TV audience. You know what gets a 30-plus share in the U.S. nowadays? Like Sunday’s 49ers vs. Packers playoff game (certainly no drama series). Sort of makes you want to move to the UK — a land where nearly a third of TV viewers are watching Sherlock!

Sherlock makes its U.S. return to PBS Masterpiece on Sunday, Jan. 19.
