Now it's getting silly: 'Fish Bowl' to air opposite Super Bowl

NAT GEO FISH BOWL

First Animal Planet launched the Puppy Bowl.

Then Hallmark Channel announced the Kitten Bowl.

Now Nat Geo Wild is planning the … Fish Bowl. Yes, the cable channel has a Super Bowl counter-program to call its own. The show is apparently four hours of a fish in a bowl. That’s it.

The network made the announcement at the Television Critics Association Press Tour on Friday in Pasadena. The program will star a fish named Goldie. Goldie is, as you might expect, a goldfish. From the release: “In the vein of other reality series, where the daily drama of a character’s life plays out in a ‘fishbowl’ setting, Goldie will swim about her daily business in an actual fishbowl. Without filters and with remarkable candor, Goldie navigates through an average day in the life of a goldfish. When asked how this stacks up to her competition, Goldie offered, ‘Can Bruno Mars pack all of that into his halftime show? Right, I didn’t think so, blub, blurb, bubble.’” Here’s the trailer:
