The second season of NBC’s Hannibal is making some fun choices that could help the crime drama that struggled in the ratings last season. Below check out Hannibal’s first full trailer for the upcoming drama, which gets underway Feb. 28. In the new season, Will (Hugh Dancy) is in prison and everybody thinks he’s guilt of Hannibal’s (Mads Mikkelsen) crimes. While the good doctor gets even closer in his relationship with the FBI.
Including in the trailer are glimpses of a fight between Hannibal and Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne). You might think you’ll have to wait awhile to see that fight, but it’s actually the very first scene in the premiere and then most of the rest of the season flashes starting 12 weeks earlier. Their brutal confrontation is what I teased last week as the most exciting scene so far in the show’s history (see that earlier post on the seven reasons season two could be great). Showrunner Bryan Fuller noted to critics Sunday at the TCA press tour that both Fishburne and Mikkelsen had fight training from their previous projects and he wanted to take full advantage of that.
NBC broke a lot of news at TCA on Sunday, here’s what you might have missed:
– NBC’s next live musical: Peter Pan
– Two drama series, Wizard of Oz-inspired Emerald City and provocative The Slap
– NBC gives renewal odds on shows (Parks & Rec, Community, more)
– Two new pilots featuring Katherine Heigl and Amy Poehler
